THE FIRST FLIGHT OF BLAKURVZ

The spark for our first collection began in a quiet moment, sketching tribal gods for a project—an attempt to capture courage and power through lines and forms. But fate had a different guide. At a friend’s birthday, a chance encounter with the cultural storyteller Malaikaturaja turned everything upside down.

He asked why I sought inspiration in distant tribal gods when Tamil heritage held a ferocious, yet overlooked goddess — one whose stories had faded from memory. Curiosity led me to her temples, near my hometown.

Yet what I found was disquieting: her statues tucked away, corners ignored, names forgotten, faces faded by time. The goddess had become invisible – just as I often felt invisible without my mother, struggling to find my place.

I realized then that she needed a voice — a presence — and that in bringing her back, she was bringing me back too. Traditionally ferocious, I envisioned her differently: not just a warrior, but a mother. A protector. A reminder that even in strength, there is tenderness, and that any girl, when the moment demands, carries boundless courage. Her face, erased by history, was now reborn in my hands.

DROP HIGHLIGHTS

What began as a casual conversation with Malaikaturaja—a storyteller of Tamil heritage—grew into a spark for my creative journey. That chat led me to temples, stories, and forgotten statues of a goddess whose presence had faded from history. This encounter became the heartbeat of Blakurvz’s first drop.

Kotravai’s face, erased by time, was reborn through my art. From those initial sketches, the concept evolved into a premium co-ord set—meticulously designed, printed, and crafted to honor her strength, tenderness, and legacy. Every element, from the buffalo head and the spear to the lion’s face and her motherly gaze, carries fragments of her story.
